I will like to get to know the homeowners, trying to size up what type of owners they are, what opportunities (monetary or design) could arise from the potential collaboration, and where possible I will try to open the owners’ minds to a design process that is beyond the conventional:
1) “cut” nice images from social media and the internet and “paste” them onto a mood board;
2) Send the mood board to several renovation firms;
3) Obtain free quotations to review and compare;
4) Make decisions based mainly on quotation (simply because there isn’t enough time and resources to come up with a decent design at the quotation stage which is free)
I will ask the homeowners to put down their phones, turn off the computer, and search through their spatial histories for spaces or atmospheres that inspire them. How will they attempt to describe the qualities of their dream home in words, or how they will envision their spaces to be used. Finding images online is a shortcut, which usually ends up with inferior results.
Within 3 weeks after the first consultation
A fee of 10% of the final renovation cost is chargeable (inclusive of VOs), consisting of:
Obtain the Client’s instructions to ascertain the requirements and constraints of the works;
Prepare schematic designs to interpret the design brief, including spatial planning, carpentry works, wall panelling, colour and finishes proposal, and furniture layout;
Obtain quotations of the probable renovation costs;
Coordinate the renovation works with the Client’s appointed contractor through periodic site visits;
Provide reviews and recommendations on styling, such as furniture, display, and lighting selections.
Yes, I will be the main point of contact for all design consultations and quotation related queries, including managing the project. However, a dedicated project manager will be assigned to handle the contractor/logistic matters of the project.
We do not provide the service of shopping with the homeowners for the materials and furniture/fittings as it is a time-consuming process. However, we do include styling in our basic design scope as furnish items obviously play a large part in the design outcome. We are able to offer our suggestions for furniture items, or the homeowners could shortlist on their end and send them to us for our review and recommendation.
1-year warranty from my company (only for services engaged with the proposed contractor)

I was introduced to Woon by a mutual friend and was impressed with his work on my new house. As a believer in feng shui, I wanted my house to have all five elements in harmony, which can be difficult to achieve with traditional interior design. Woon’s design, however, was able to incorporate all of my feng shui requirements without sacrificing any design elements. He painted the walls in the living room with two colors that blended seamlessly. I was particularly impressed with the new wall he designed, which was curved and included storage space. It became the standout feature of my house and blended seamlessly with the walkway into the house. I would definitely work with Woon again and highly recommend him.
I enjoyed my design and renovation journey with Woon as he was able to pick up nuances of how I prefer to use my space at our initial meeting. The ideas that came forth showed his clear listening as well as his ability to stretch one’s imagination. Spatial planning is often overlooked by new homeowners, and what Woon brings to the partnership is the conversation of space. How one intends to use it, where one needs it more, or less, and what else to consider. He also managed the renovation work well with the contractor, providing timely updates and check-ins.
Working with Woon was simply amazing. He understood my requirements and could actualize them in drawings and materialize a design concept for me. Often, we may be blinded by online images that looked nice but were actually not practical. But with his years of experience, Woon was able to balance aesthetics and practicality while expressing the design. I could really see his professionalism and passion when he was presenting the design concept and ideas. He also followed up very closely with the contractor in making sure that their execution of the carpentry works was faithful to the design. Really thankful that I have found Woon to design my dream home for me.
