From the moment that designer Megan stepped into this 5-Room unit at Senja, she immediately knew that the original condition of the home was not fully maximising the space in it and wanted to reconfigure it. “There were a lot of weird angles in the house and the placement of the furniture was a bit awkward,” she shared. “I felt that the space was not being fully maximised, especially in the dining and living room area; so we then decided to hack down the bedroom closest to the dining area to open it more.”
Before – Living Room
After – Living Room
The doors leading to the master bedroom, second bedroom and storeroom are camouflaged with the wall behind the kitchen island.
Due to the odd layout, Megan shared that proper space planning is essential to fully utilise the angled space.
“When my homeowners first informed me of their brief, I realised that it was not fully utilising the space given,” Megan said. “Since they have a love for hosting and entertaining, I wanted to open up the unit visually and to also have a flow so that they can enjoy the newly created space.”
With an open kitchen concept to further expand the living space, a kitchen island was created so that guests could have another area to chill at during one of the homeowners’ many hosting sessions.

Apart from the living room, guests can also chill in the entertainment room, which bears a “London shophouse” front that is visible from the living room.

Before & After – Bathrooms
The vanity cabinets in each bathroom incorporate a pop of colour to create a focal point. The use of colours, patterns and textures throughout this storefront-inspired flat ends up in a sophisticated yet whimsical aesthetic for Megan’s fun-loving homeowners.
