Real Homes Transformations: The Arch House’s Bright and Airy Minimalist Makeover

27 May 2021

Project by: Bing
Cost: $400,000

With the homeowner’s love for hosting, this home was designed in such a way that it is able to accommodate a large number of guests. Making use of the outdoors, the space was also opened up to bring in as much natural light as possible.

Before – Living Room

After – Living Room

With just an initial brief to Bing, he had designed an in-built settee and a large dining table to cater to the homeowner’s love for having guests over. “There’s no TV in the living room!” he laughed. “The owner told me that if anyone is going to come over and watch TV, then he would rather they not come.”

“The Arch Glass wall opening is actually one of the main features of this house to allow more natural light into the space,” he explained. “This also connects both the living and dining space together.”

The full panel bifold doors at the dining area can also be opened up fully to convert the area into an outdoor space to give it a semi-indoor and semi-outdoor look.

Before – Kitchen

After – Kitchen

“As the wet kitchen is located outdoors, I decided to change the carpentry and cabinets to that of stainless steel so that it would not get damaged easily when it rains,” Bing shared.
