Mugliston Garden

This project was for a returning client who is a creative advertising director and her husband, who’s in IT. Now with a growing family, they moved from a maisonette to a resale landed home with one simple brief: anything is possible. Without a fixed theme, I was given the freedom to explore. Drawing on our past working relationship, I intuitively crafted a home with layered personality : a Peranakan-inspired entrance, earthy tones in the living area, and a ceiling wallpaper from England that delivers a bold first impression. The layout was fully reconfigured, featuring an enlarged master bath with wet and dry zones, a walk-in closet, and a third-level extension with separate workspaces. The wife’s “inspirational room” and ample storage addressed long-time needs. Though coordination with various teams such as builders posed challenges, the trust and chemistry with the client allowed the design to breathe — fluid, unexpected, and completely personal.
