One of our clients requested us to fully utilise her art collections and old furniture from her old house, which she has stayed there for more than 50 years. She requested us to create a “same same but different” feel; what she meant is that she wants to give all her all furniture and collection a new lease of life, yet does not want it to look “old” or have a “retro theme” for her new house.
We love renovating old houses. Firstly, we love to see the transformation of the house. Usually, there are more rooms for us to play with, in terms of layout and how we use our creativity to solve certain “old house” problems like lower ceiling height, smaller showers/bathrooms etc.
We also love the quality of the old house estate, in terms of the surrounding urban fabric and the architecture languages or even some “old” materials that always give us a lot of inspiration.
We usually get our inspiration from client’s stories or life stories.
We were referred to Ean by a friend. Very smooth and relatively painless process from the start, even before we got our keys. Ean was there to answer our questions, plus suggesting ideas and solutions to help make our vision of our new home come to life. Once we got our keys, Ean had drawings and sketches ready for us to review before the actual renovation started. Along the way, Ean made sure our input was heard and made changes to reflect accordingly. The workmanship was very good, only minor defects which were rectified very quickly once we pointed them out. Timeline was kept to and we managed to move in around the time we wanted to.
I shared my inspiration with Ean and Choo Yih, and they easily understood the style that I wanted to achieve.
Both designers were responsive, experienced and friendly throughout the entire process, and I particularly appreciated their practical tips to enhance my home aesthetic without compromising or deviating from the style I wanted to achieve.
Together with the rest of the team, their attention to detail, workmanship and patience dispensed, meant the world to us, and that world became our home.
This is my first house ever and I had no idea of what I actually need for my house. I gave my full trust to Choo Yih as my friend highly recommended him to me. He provided me with various practical proposals with drawing of the house which is really fascinating. He managed to make my house a well ergonomically and inspiring designed one. The most difficult thing is the time line which he was able to manage well. I would say his design is 100% satisfactory!
